Pictures from the past and happenings in October

A Photo from the past

In 1973 Butch Nixon, Ed Lybarger and Charlie Nixon are seen in this photo scrapping the burned hulk of M452 which, Arden has purchased along with M200 and moved to the Museum in May 1972.  The work is being done on County Home siding and consumed several weeks of effort on the part of these guys and others.  I scanned this photo this week using my new Kodak slide and film scanner which I found on sale at Amazon.  I have hundreds of such slides waiting attention.

Happenings around the Chateau

Monday seems to be a popular day for the turkeys in the neighborhood to gather outside our door.  I took a similar photo the previous week.

Back on September 8, Shamokin and Mt. Carmel 33 from Knoebels Amusement Resort has been cleaned off to reveal its original use as a cabin at their park in 1938.  Below is interior gold leaf decals discovered in the car.
Inside the Shamokin and Mount Carmel #33 recently donated by the folks at Knoebels Amusement Resort, Elysburg PA. volunteers Michael and Jack recently found this gold leaf decal which  we think is patent date information that perhaps decorated this Semi Convertible car, perhaps as a Brill marketing demonstrator in the 1900s when the car was new.  It was in service until the mid 1930s before it was retired and then purchased by Knoebels to be a rental cabin labeled Toonerville 33.
