Trustee Report February 2024

 Getting out the Museum Memories

Kim DeBor working with her Grandfaher Tony DeSensi during a 1986 Association of Railway Museum Conference held at the Museum.  This photo is a screenshot from one of my videos fulfilling a request from Jeanine PTM Director of Development.  It was fun making more nostalgia material for the presentation on February 7, the 70th Anniversary of the founding of the Museum in Washington County.

In restoration developments, Laura Wells started with fabrication of an improved arch window prototype for use on car 73 (currently undergoing  restoration) and eventually on sister car 66.

After my check up at the doctor Jan 31 I stopped by the TDB where Ralph and Bill were working to install the double sliding doors that Bill has been restoring in the main shop.  This is the last set of doors to be installed using parts from both 274 and the sister car 272 which was part of a cabin in Coolville Ohio near Parkersburg WV.

March 1974 Bill, John Bagiensky and my brother visiting the carbodies built into the cabin near Coolville.   During the summer of 1974 Bill led an expedition to prepare the body for shipment and then arranged for trucking to the Museum.

While visiting the TDB to see 274 I took the opportunity to snap a shot of Nancy and Wayne's train Christmas 2023 toy train layout.

January 31 Laura brought down the prototypes and produced templates for cutting the shape for the glass.

February 7 it was my pleasure to share photos from my collection and the stage with Arthur Stone Ellis and Jon McGrew.

February 13,  Forest County Wood Products delivered the pieces they cut and dried for the roof walk boards that will be installed on Red Arrow 73 and Philadelphia Transportation 8042.

Michael Buchta waits to unload the Hemlock planks.

The duct work for the control rods is awaiting the fabrication of new plastic rollers.

Pictured are the replacement poles recently received from Koppers.  Michael and Kevin devoted time to preparing the landing spot and unloading the poles.

Last weekend I helped out the Youth Brigade with a conductor bell and components needed for 4145 and to connect up the fare register which had been in safe keeping on 4140 (M200).

I spent a lot of time this month preparing this drawing detailing our proposal for reuse of the former visitor center and offices.

And this plan needed to prepare wall frames for 8042.
